Celebrate the legacy of Rabbie Burns

23 January 2026

As evening falls and the museum quiets, Museum Late Big Burns Ceilidh brings the Grand Gallery to life with the sound of live fiddles, rhythmic footsteps and shared laughter. Led by the Jacobites Ceilidh Band, the night centres around guided ceilidh dancing that welcomes complete beginners as warmly as seasoned dancers, creating an atmosphere that is social, inclusive and full of energy. Between sets, guests are free to wander selected galleries, experiencing the museum in a slower and more intimate way than during the day, or pause for a drink from bars and food stalls dotted throughout the museum.

With tartan encouraged and Burns at its heart, the evening feels rooted in Scottish tradition while remaining relaxed and contemporary, offering a memorable way to spend a winter night in Edinburgh and see one of the city’s most familiar landmarks from a new perspective.
