London Pride: A Celebration of Love, Diversity, and Unity

5 July 2025

Now, more than ever, we need to celebrate the love, diversity, and resilience of LGBTQIA+ communities as London Pride returns this July.

London Pride not only honours the achievements of the LGBTQIA+ community but also raises awareness of the ongoing challenges for equality and justice, making the parade a powerful symbol of solidarity and hope. As LGBT rights become increasingly under threat on the world stage, there has never been a more important time to unite and uplift one another.

The heart of the celebration lies in the spectacular Pride Parade, where a procession of elaborate floats, public figures, and energetic performances winds through central London, creating an atmosphere of excitement and solidarity. The parade, often led by prominent LGBTQIA+ activists and allies, makes its way from Oxford Street, passing close to The Resident Soho and Covent Garden, to Trafalgar Square, where the main stage hosts speeches, live music, and entertainment, with a series of very special celebrity guests set to make an appearance.

Beyond the parade, London Pride offers a wide array of activities, including film screenings, art exhibitions, panel discussions, and health and wellness sessions, ensuring there is something for everyone.

Stay moments from the action with The Resident Soho, ideally located in the heart of the lively celebrations.

Best Local Spots To Catch The Parade

For prime viewing spots of the parade, we recommend securing your place early at some of the city’s iconic locations along the route. Oxford Street buzzes with energy as the procession begins, while Regent Street and Piccadilly Circus offer great vantage points to watch the spectacular procession. Near Trafalgar Square, enjoy an unforgettable view of performances on the main stage. Covent Garden and Soho also provide fantastic glimpses of the colourful floats and marchers, just moments away from our doors.

The History of London Pride

The Origins of London Pride

Long before the legalization of gay marriage, or life for LGBTQIA+ communities as we know it today, Pride was established in 1972 as a peaceful protest. LGBT people walked proudly, without shame or embarrassment, led by the Gay Liberation Front. The event was first inspired by the Stonewall Riots in America, a series of protests against police raids in gay bars and safe spaces, including the Stonewall Inn. Pride represents a historic turning point for visibility and empowerment for gay communities in Britain.

The History of London Pride

Celebrating More Than 50 Years of London Pride

53 years later, Pride is officially recognised as one of the highlights of the London events calendar, attracting A-list stars and garnering mainstream support throughout the country. This is a remarkable testament to the early work of these communities and how far the gay rights movement has come.
